July 3 Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole said he liked the locker room atmosphere in Old Trafford, and Sir Ferguson's criticism inspired him. Kerr played for Manchester United for six years, winning five Premier League titles, two FA Cup titles and the 1999 Champions League title.

Cole: "Really, I love that locker room very much, I'm an independent guy. I don't mind people yelling at me, I'm used to it. My dad always blames me, so I can't lie, I'm used to it. So when I played for Sir Ferguson, my teammates told me, 'No matter what you do, don't make mistakes in the five minutes before the end of the first half or the five minutes before the end of the game, because that would be the only thing he remembers'. I'm grateful for their words because that's really the only thing he'll remember, he'll get angry at you and start getting angry at another guy. But he just did it so that each of us can play at the best. It's never targeted individuals. I think that's why he's so good."

Cole scored 121 goals for Manchester United in 275 appearances and is still fourth in the Premier League all-time scorers list. Kerr: "I never realized how great Manchester United was before I moved to Old Trafford. I walked into a locker room like this. I was playing for Bristol City in the English League Two years ago, and I was just watching Manchester United. Two years later, I actually played for Manchester United with these players. I think everyone would think I was already an experienced veteran in the Premier League. Actually, it wasn't. I only played for a season and a half! Then you came to Manchester United and everyone looked at you, as if saying 'You have to show it right away'."
