British media: Newcastle are once again pursuing 23-year-old Manchester City goalkeeper Trafford, Tottenham and West Ham are also paying attention

On November 16, British media teamtalk reported that Newcastle United has restarted transfer negotiations with Manchester City goalkeeper Trafford. The 23-year-old England international is actively pushing for a January move to be completed.

Trafford just joined Manchester City from Burnley in July this year for 19 million pounds, but the club signed Donnarumma on the closing day for a transfer fee of 40 million pounds. This has reduced Trafford to a marginal player this season, with only two substitute appearances in cup matches.

Sources stated that Trafford is disappointed with the lack of game time, believes that this season has been almost wasted, and urgently needs stable appearances to compete for the World Cup.

Newcastle was close to signing Trafford for 20 million pounds in the last summer transfer window. In-depth negotiations were held with the player in August, but it failed to take place due to Guardiola's last-minute intervention.

Currently, as Pope continues to be troubled by shoulder injuries and the goalkeeper position is insufficient in depth, Newcastle is ready to pursue it again.

The club has re-contacted Trafford's agent to explore possible transaction options, including renting before buying, with a mandatory buyout clause of 25 million pounds. If both parties reach an agreement on the transfer fee, the possibility of a direct transfer is not ruled out.

For Manchester City, selling Trafford will help return funds under the Financial Fair Play framework. Although Tottenham and West Ham are also monitoring player developments, Newcastle are currently in the lead thanks to their negotiating foundation and club planning during the summer window.
