Congratulations! Figo and Yildiz win the 2025 Mediterranean Excellence Award

On October 16, Italian media "Corriere dello Sport" reported that former Real Madrid and Inter Milan star Figo and Juventus forward Yildiz won the 2025 Mediterranean Excellence Award.

The winner together with Figo and Yildiz is Galatasaray women's football forward Giacinti, who once played for the Roma women's football team. The awards ceremony, scheduled to be held in Rome on October 20, will honor those who best represent the Mediterranean spirit, multiculturalism and inter-ethnic dialogue.

For Figo, the reasons for the award read: "Special recognition is given to his extraordinary career and his contribution to promoting sports and social welfare projects. As a true icon of world football, he is not only known for his talent and elegance on the field, but also for his care for the younger generation and his continuous support for international cultural and charity projects."

And Yildiz is described as: "The representative of the new generation of Mediterranean football. Born in Germany with Turkish descent, he quickly won the love of the public with his talent, humility and humanistic spirit. Wearing the No. 10 jersey, he became a new sports identity symbol connecting Italy and Turkey, perfectly embodying the spirit of this award: merit, multiculturalism and inter-ethnic dialogue."
