Liverpool may join the competition to sign Rodrigo from Real Madrid. Red Devils head coach Arn Slott is said to be a fan of the Brazilian and is exploring the possibility of signing him this summer.

According to Mercator Football Club Santi Ona, Liverpool hopes to bring in a winger, and the Brazilian is an ideal addition. After Hota's tragic death, the Premier League champion is looking for a striker in the transfer market.

Slott's team may also lose Luis Diaz this summer, with Bayern Munich and Barcelona reportedly fighting to sign him. The Bundesliga team is said to have made an offer of €67.5 million this week, but Anfield refused. The Colombian recently revealed that he was in contract negotiations with Liverpool, adding that he was having fun at the club. Earlier this month, he said (by Spanish football):

"We are in negotiations, negotiating with Liverpool and everyone who stretched out their hands. I'm comfortable and happy here. (I will) make the best decision for me."

Rodrigo's future at Real Madrid is also pending, and Liverpool hopes to take advantage of the situation. Under Alonso, the Brazilian has not started in any of the Club World Cup games since the first game, and there are reports that he may leave the club this summer.

Defense Central reported earlier this month that Liverpool was keen to sign Rodrigo and might even offer cash and players for the Brazilian. They are reportedly willing to provide defender Ibushima Conat, who has been associated with Santiago Bernabeu.

Xavi Alonso commented on the connection between Real Madrid star and Liverpool

Real Madrid coach Alonso was asked about Rodrigo's limited playing time in the Club World Cup. He replied that it was a tactical decision that did not determine the future of his players during the game.

Real Madrid coach said (via GOAL):

"He didn't play again was a game after game decision. As things went on, we needed another player. There were no decisions about the future throughout the championship game; we didn't spin too much. We will start with a different background. We wanted to build a team that was united and keep that feeling and spirit. The World Cup was very demanding; we were left in the penultimate stage, which was hurt, and now let's see what happens."

Rodrigo played only 94 minutes in three games with Alonso. He had an assist in these matches, which was a 1-1 draw against Al Hilal in the opening match of the FIFA Club World Cup.
