May 21, According to the Marca report, Maradona's daughter hopes the trial on her father's death can "continue", after the court decided to suspend the trial for one week after Judge Julietta Margintah was accused of partiality and connection with the filming of related documentaries.

Gianina said after the trial on Tuesday: "As a daughter, I hope the trial will continue and the truth will be found out as soon as possible." The court announced a suspension of the trial on Tuesday, responding to a judge's request for evasion from one of the defendant's lawyers. Subsequently, the lawyers of Maradona's two daughters also made an investigation request for the matter.

Specifically, the judge was accused of favoritism and allowed two journalists to enter the court to shoot a documentary without the authorization of either party. Faced with the situation, prosecutors requested a ten-day suspension on Tuesday, but the court finally decided to suspend the debate for one week.

Gianina said: "I hope it can be proved that this is a lie and that the trial can continue in a way that is as transparent as possible." Speaking of the judge's performance, Gianina said: "She has done a good job so far. I feel good when I testified before three judges and there is nothing to add."

However, her representative Fernando Burlando supported the suspension of the trial until the facts were clarified, calling it a "cautious measure" and saying "it's very painful for the family." The trial will be resumed at 10:30 am local time on May 27, when it will be decided whether there is sufficient evidence to submit a request for abstention to Judge Makintah to the Criminal Appeal and Guarantee Court, which may even result in a request for invalidation of the trial. The trial began on March 11, 2025 and has held 19 hearings so far, with more than 40 witnesses appearing in court, including Maradona's three daughters Dalma, Gianina and Yana Maradona, as well as his three sisters Claudia, Rita and Anna Maradona. The only defendant who testified in court was Argentine idol psychiatrist Agustina Kosachev.

In addition, Maradona's family doctor Leopoldo Luke, psychologist Carlos Dias, Swiss Medical Coordinator Nancy Forlini, nurse Ricardo Almiron and head nurse Mariano Peroni, nurse Giserra Madrid were also indicted, but she will face a jury trial.

A court composed of judges Maximiliano Savarino and Veronica Di Toomaso will determine whether the seven defendants were guilty of intentional homicide, which would be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison.
