Newcastle interested in Porto striker Aghova: Unquoted, Porto asks for 100 million termination fee

Hupu August 9th, TheAthleticUK ace reporter David Ornstein reported last night that Newcastle United is considering signing Porto striker Samu Aghova.

The 21-year-old is one of the few Newcastle United considers this summer to strengthen the front line, after missing several goals. The club has not yet officially contacted and is not sure whether the transfer will take place, but Aghova is a player Newcastle United is optimistic about.

Brentford's Jorian Visa and Wolves' Jorgen Strand Larson are also the considerations for the Tyneside club. However, the Wolves believe Strand Larson is not a seller.

Aghova, formerly known as Omorodion, made 45 appearances in Porto's first season and scored 27 goals. In the group stage of the UEFA Cup last season, he scored twice in the match against Manchester United, helping Porto draw 3-3.

Last summer, Chelsea reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid to sign Aghova for £34.5 million, but the transfer plan eventually broke down. Aghova then joined Porto for a transfer fee of €15 million.

Aghova signed a five-year contract with Porto, which includes a 100 million euro termination clause, valid until 2029.

The front pages of the three major newspapers in Portugal confirmed the matter today.

Despite constant news, with the start of Porto's new season, the striker's thoughts were not affected at all. He had only one thought in his mind: to lead Porto to the Portuguese Super League championship.

Therefore, transfers are not a hot topic at the moment and are expected to remain in this state at least until there are signs that these interests may be translated into specific offers, and Porto will stick to their attitude, and the termination fee is the asking price.
