Post: West Ham fans protest against club owners on a massive scale, demanding resignation

September 21 The Daily Mail reported that West Ham United fans protested large-scale club owners before the Premier League against Crystal Palace. At least hundreds of fans gathered and shouted, demanding the resignation of boss David Sullivan and vice chairman Karen Brady. The fan group led by the Hammer League believes that the club is heading for demise under the current owner.

This kind of protest may seem radical, after all, West Ham has been in the Premier League for 13 consecutive seasons and has just won the European Union championship in 2023. But since leaving his beloved Upton Park in 2016 and moving to London Stadium, fans are deeply dissatisfied with the club's failure to make a breakthrough. Sullivan had declared his goal to win the domestic triple crown before the 2016-17 season, but the team has only finished sixth in the highest position since then.

The parade held up banners with banners written with "Selling the Soul: 15 Years of Destroying West Ham United", "Lie Story... Sullivan Brady Gets Out", "Rejecting the Blank Check" and "Upton Forever". Some unupdated banners still demand that former co-owner David Gord step down, although he died in January 2023.

Sullivan and Brady have been in charge of West Ham since 2010. The Hammer League statement: "If the club is to be regained, fans must fight. Under Brady and Sullivan, the club is heading for demise. Slowly dying in a serious recession. With thousands of long-term fans leaving, the relegation battle is coming again and the cup is out early, we cannot sit idly by."

The protest broke out just two weeks after the Fan Advisory Committee voted for distrust of leadership. The Hammer League also called on fans to boycott the October 20 game against Brentford, which is not the first protest, with the group launching demonstrations against the late David Gauder and Sullivan in 2020, condemning their failed decade of dominance.

Although moving to London Stadium did not bring about a golden age, West Ham remained competitive and fought in the European war during his coaching period between Bilic and David Moyes. In the four full seasons Moyes coached between 2020 and 2024, the team entered the middle and half of the zone three times, won the UEFA Champions League in 2023, and went deep into the UEFA Cup twice before and after that year.

However, due to the lack of signings in the summer, the team's new season started unstable, and fans were worried that they might be relegated to the English Championship.
