Sarri: Lazio’s schedule is too intensive and there is not enough rest, so we haven’t been able to play the football we want.

October 31st Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri accepted an interview after the draw with Pisa and talked about the team’s schedule, injuries, offense, and personal coaching experience.

How do you evaluate this 0-0 draw and the team’s schedule?

It's a midweek game and we came here with seven players missing and some guys just coming off a long layoff and you can't expect them to perform well two games in a row. Thanks to the "kindness" of Serie A, we only had four days off, while Pisa had six. I think the two-day gap is a bit exaggerated compared to the four-day rest period.

But our problem is that we have a lot of players out, and a lot of the players on the field are just coming back from long-term injuries. The team is finding solidity, but offensively we're lacking and it's not enough to win games. But that’s fine too. Center question? No, it's an offensive problem. We're waiting for everyone to get back to their best and for some others to come back.

What do you think of the performance of Bacic and Isaksson? And what is the current situation of the team?

We haven't had much good news since June. I couldn't play my football but I still enjoyed it because... Bahic did a great job, he was out of the squad for a long time and gave us important help today. Isakson is just recovering from a very draining illness and he's paying the price tonight. It’s a process that you have to go through, we haven’t had a lot of good news since June and we’ve been struggling to stay afloat. If we can have 7-8 players ready by the end of the year to build a more competitive team, that will be considered a success.

What do you think of Cataldi? You are currently unable to play your own style of football, are you still enjoying it?

For a Roman, playing football in Roma has never been easy. A year away from his natural surroundings would do him good. He is very smart, at a very high level, and if he had a stronger "engine" it would be at the level of a top team. At the moment I can't play the football I want but it's an opportunity to try something different. I found myself in a team where I couldn't replace players in one position, which forced me to play a different kind of football, which was interesting to me and gave me new excitement. I feel like this team is healthy, and while there are more reasons to be angry than to enjoy right now, I'm in it and I'm willing to do it.
