August 30 talkSPORT reported that Tottenham Hotspur is interested in Manchester City defender Akanji and will compete with other teams.

Tottenham Hotspur is seeking to strengthen the defense, and Manchester City is open to the release of Akanji, with the Swiss international having two years left on its contract.

He has not received any Premier League appearances under Guardiola this season, and the player may be about to leave the team as Monday night's transfer window deadline approaches.

Akanji joined Manchester City from Dortmund in 2022 and has played 158 games for the team so far. Despite winning the Premier League twice, he may choose to transfer after Tottenham expressed his interest.

coach Thomas Frank hopes to introduce another central defender to add quality to the already huge lineup of guards. If joining, Akanji will form the central defender choice with captains Christian Romero, Van derwen, Danso and Dragusin.

Dragusin is currently recovering from a cruciate ligament injury, and this Davis has not played this season. Frank has tried five-guard formations in the European Super Cup, which may become his future tactical choice, and Akanji is the goal of the program.

But this deal may face complex situations. Tottenham is not the only Premier League team to pursue Akanji before the deadline. talkSPORT learned that Crystal Palace is also interested in players.

Crystal Palace sees 30-year-old Akanji as a potential replacement for Guy, who may leave the club, and Liverpool maintains interest in Guy, who has only one year left in the contract.

After selling core player Eze to Arsenal, Crystal Palace coach Glasner was unwilling to let go of the main defender. But Crystal Palace is still preparing for possible staff loss and now they need to compete with Tottenham.
