Victor Yorke is a summer target for Manchester United and Arsenal; United have already made contact through intermediaries to explore the conditions of potential deals; Portugal Sports president said the club "has not received a offer" but the striker will be allowed to leave under the terms of termination

Portugal Sports has not received any offer for Victor Yorke, and club president Frederico Valandas said Wednesday morning that the striker will not be allowed to leave this summer at a price of £59m (€70m). Valandas objected to the existence of a “gentleman agreement” with Yorke’s agent, which would allow Manchester United and Arsenal to leave at an additional fee of £50.8m (€60m) plus £8.4m (€10m).

Portugal reports said that Yorke told Portugal Sports that he would not play for them again because he was disappointed that they did not fulfill their promises. Valandas said he had promised Yorke would be allowed to leave for a termination clause of less than €100, but he made it clear that he would openly negotiate the 27-year-old, who scored 54 goals in 52 appearances for Portugal Sports last season.

Sky Sports News' Dharmesh Sheth explains how United can afford all their top transfer goals, such as the confirmed Matthews Cunha deal and potential transfers from Brian Mbemo and Victor Yorke

"I can guarantee that Victor Yorke will not leave for 60m euros plus 10m euros because I never promised it," Valandas said. "Until today, Portugal Sports has not received a offer from Yorke, both today and last summer."

Valandas said that Yorke's agent sought assurances from him and sports director Hugo Viana, who has now left to join Manchester City in a similar role, will allow the player to leave at a meeting earlier this season at a price below his release clause. The chairman of Portugal sports said the agent also asked for an agreement on the asking price, but he was unwilling to promise specific figures. Valandas added: "What agreement was reached at that meeting? That Portuguese sports would not ask for a term of termination (this summer).

"One of the reasons is that we know no player left Portugal at 27 for 100 euros or 90 euros. "In that meeting, the agent wanted to anchor the exit to a value. I said this: 'We are not worth setting a value because I don't know what will happen in a year. I don't know if it's 40m euros, 60m or 80m. What I can guarantee is that I won't ask for 100m euros.

Portuguese Sports is expected to make a huge profit on Victor Yorkez after signing him from Coventry for about £20m.

The 27-year-old, who scored 40 goals in 97 matches after joining Coventry from Brighton in 2021, has climbed new heights in Portugal since 2023 Since joining in 2018, he has scored 97 goals for Portugal in 102 matches in various competitions, becoming one of the most coveted strikers in Europe.

Manchester United have reached initial contact on a possible reunion with his former coach Ruben Amorin. Arsenal is also interested in Yorke, as the Gunners’ goal is to strengthen their offense. His goal performance at Portugal Sports, including six goals in eight Champions League matches last season, tripled his net worth in two years to £75m, reflecting the pace of his rise.
