American News: Thomas is not the core of the Nets future reconstruction, and the team s three consecutive guards are enough to prove

According to Brett Siegel, Cam Thomas is not the core of the Nets' future reconstruction.

Siegel said: "The Nets are rebuilding. They chose five people in the draft this year, accounting for one-third of the new season's lineup. Among them, Yegor Jamin, Nolan Traore and Ben Salav are all defenders. They represent the future of the Nets, so where should Thomas go?"

"Although Thomas performed very well when he was healthy, he never really became a core figure in the Nets. The league believes that the Nets do not intend to treat him as a long-term core to train him, which led them to reject the contract requirements proposed by Thomas: the term is about three or four years, with an annual salary of between 20 and 25 million US dollars." He added.

Siegel finally concluded: "The two sides have a big difference in contract negotiations, so I think Thomas may choose a one-year qualification offer and leave the Nets as a full free agent next year. If the Nets really don't provide him with a middle class contract (although I haven't heard of it, I think it's possible), then Thomas should be confident in himself, because he will definitely become the Nets' number one scorer in the new season."

Cam Thomas was troubled by injury last season and played only 25 games, averaging 24 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists per game, and a shooting percentage of 43.8%.
