Don Nelson: Mavericks trade Doncic is a mistake

Don Nelson won the Chuck Daley Award today, and he attended a press conference today.
Nilsen specifically mentioned that he was wearing Luka Doncic's signature shoe, Luka 4, in order to express his protest against the Dallas Mavericks (now known as the Mavericks) trading Doncic to the Lakers. He said: "I think the Mavericks trade him is a huge mistake - I hope everyone knows that."
Nelson said that his philosophy comes directly from Red Auerbach, that is, you "always respect great players" and you build around them and let them and the team do the best you can, rather than trade them out.
