June 27th Mavericks' self-media MavsFilmRoom posted a post reporting on the latest situation between the team and Exam.

The original text read: "Stein reported that Exam and the Mavericks are interested in continuing to cooperate with each other. However, the Mavericks' top priority will be to sign a guard with a mini middle class special case, which means the team will no longer have free places for Exam."

In the 2024-25 season, Exam played 20 games with the Mavericks, averaging 8.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.

In the 2023 offseason, Exam joined the Mavericks with a 2-year, $6.15 million base salary contract, which expires this summer.

Previously, Irving's significant salary cut allowed the Mavericks to get the Mini Middle Class Special ($5.7 million). According to Shams, the Mavericks intend to use this special case to sign Russell or Brogdon.
