Pelicans cut last year s second round pick Antonio Reeves

According to HoopsHype reporter Michael Scotto, the Pelicans have cut guard Antonio Reeves.

24-year-old Reeves was selected to join the league with the 17th overall pick in the second round last year. He played 44 games in New Orleans' rookie season, averaging 15 minutes per game, averaging 6.9 points and 1.4 rebounds per game, shooting 45.6%, shooting 39.5% from three-pointers and shooting 80.0% from free throws. He also performed well in the G League, averaging 24.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game in 11 games, and his three-time shooting percentage reached 47.0%/41.6%/80.0%.

However, since Reeves was selected in 2024, the Pelicans management has changed a number of times, so the new decision-making team, led by executive vice president of basketball operations, decided not to retain the former University of Kentucky star player.

Reeves' $1.96 million salary for the 2025-26 season will be a non-guaranteed contract before July 23, so the Pelicans' operation will save a small amount of salary space.
