Team reporter: Among these three free agents, the Rockets may only sign Old Green back?

Houston Rockets reporter Ben DuBose recently published an article in which he also talked about the contract status of several players whose contracts are about to expire, including Jeff Green, Jae 'Sean Tate and Aaron Holiday.

DuBose believes that by the 2025-26 season, the Rockets' spending on salary will increase significantly, mainly due to the increase in salary of Alperen Sengun and Jalen Green. Next, we have to see how the Rockets should operate this offseason, because if they are not careful, they may fall into the dilemma of luxury tax. There are two young rookies to be trained in the Rockets lineup, namely Reed Sheppard and Cam Whitmore, and the team needs to arrange more playing time to help them realize their talent. With these factors in mind, Houston may not have much room in terms of budget next season to sign these veterans at the end of the bench.

Last season, Green, Tate and Holiday were paid $8 million, $7.6 million and $4.7 million respectively. Although Houston seems to be interested in keeping the three of them, they obviously need these players to accept a significant salary cut, so that they have the opportunity to stay on the team. Considering that the maximum salary of a player with a minimum salary is less than $4 million a year. For Old Green and Tate, such a basic salary contract is less than half of their total salary this season. Therefore, DuBose personally believes that Green will probably return with the veteran's basic salary, but he also feels that Holiday and Tate are unlikely to return to the team with a basic salary contract. Their market may not be that bad, and they will probably seek higher rewards in other teams.

In the NBA regular season this season, Green played 32 games in 82 games, averaging 12.4 minutes per game, averaging 5.4 points, 1.8 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.2 steals and 0.1 blocks, and 0.3 turnovers and 1 foul. His shooting percentage was 50.4%, three-point shooting percentage was 36.7%, and free throw shooting percentage was 80.8%. In the playoffs, Green only got three chances, and averaged only 1.8 minutes per game, with averaging 1 point and 0.3 rebounds, a shooting percentage of 33.3%, and a three-point shooting percentage of 100%.

Since the start of this season, Tate has played 52 games in 82 games, averaging 11.3 minutes per game, averaging 3.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.1 blocks, and 0.4 turnovers and 1.6 fouls. His shooting percentage is 47.3%, three-point shooting percentage is 34.8%, and free throw shooting percentage is 68.1%. In the playoffs, Tate did not gain the trust of the team, and he did not even get a chance to play, so he had to sit on the bench.

In the NBA regular season this season, Holiday made a total of 62 appearances in 82 games, averaging 12.8 minutes per game, averaging 5.5 points, 1.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.3 steals and 0.2 blocks, and 0.6 turnovers and 1 foul. His shooting percentage was 43.7%, three-point shooting percentage was 39.8%, and free throw shooting percentage was 82.9%. In the playoffs, Holiday made 3 appearances in total, with averaging 9.1 minutes per game, averaging 4 points, 0.7 rebounds and 1 assist, and 0.3 turnovers and 1 foul. His shooting percentage was 40%, his three-point shooting percentage was 40%, and his free throw shooting percentage was 50%.
