May 21 News Recently, former Arsenal player Ivobi (now at Fulham) revealed the reason for leaving the club in 2019, and said he did not regret this decision.

Ivobi admitted that leaving Emirates Stadium in August 2019 was unexpected, and the Nigerian international said he left because the club told him that Arsenal needed to sell a player to increase profits after signing Nicholas Pepe for £72 million.

In an interview with Insider, Iwobi said that he was on vacation with his family at the time and his agent called him to tell him about Everton's offer. He remained skeptical about leaving the Gunners until he was told that management wanted to sell him to increase profits.

Ivobi said that then Everton coach Marco Silva convinced him to join the Toffees by promising him. The midfielder recalled: "I asked my agent, they want me, what do you think? I don't know, I have a 50/50 attitude. Then my agent said that Arsenal had arranged a medical examination and they might want you to leave because they need to sell people."

"It's crazy, I thought at the time, Arsenal was going to let me go, and I thought it's time to face a new challenge." As an Arsenal's youth training product, Ivobi played 149 times for the Gunners' first team, scored 15 goals and contributed 23 assists.
