Manchester United vs West Ham United match result: score 2-1

5:41pm, 27 July 2025【Football】

Manchester United started their preseason with a positive result by defeating West Ham United 2-1 in the Premier League Summer Series.

Bruno Fernandez made an impressive performance with two winning goals during this match at 06:00 am on Sunday (July 27, 2025) at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The Red Devils took the lead with Fernandez's penalty kick, and then the Portuguese player scored another goal, expanding the lead. West Ham once counterattacked with Jarrod Bowen's goal, but that wasn't enough to avoid failure. The 90 minutes of the game were always maintained at high intensity, and the teams on both sides showed the spirit of fighting from the first whistle. Manchester United are more efficient in seizing opportunities, while West Ham has difficulty breaking through when facing a defensive line composed of De Ligt and Yoro.

This result adds confidence to the team coached by Ruben Amorin before the official Premier League match.

The first half

Hoylund created a threat in the first minute of the game, and his powerful shot hit the post. Manchester United continued to strengthen their attack. In the third minute, Haven was knocked down by the opponent's goalkeeper in the penalty area, and the referee awarded a penalty kick.

Bruno Fernandez calmly converted the penalty into a goal in the fifth minute as a penalty kick. The Red Devils successfully took a 1-0 lead from the beginning of the game.

West Ham tried to respond through midfield pressure, but Manchester United's defense seemed tight and organized. Fernandez and Manu temporarily pose a threat through continuous opportunities, but have not yet been translated into additional goals.

It was a golden opportunity when Nicklas Hoylund gave a great assist to Fernandez, but the Portuguese player's shot was higher than the goal. Manchester United controls the game, but still has difficulties in increasing the score gap.

West Ham began to gain momentum through the collaboration between Ward Proser and Bowen in the first half. However, the opportunities created are still not accurate enough and are easily predicted and saved by Manchester United goalkeeper.

Amad Diallo scored a goal in the 38th minute, but the goal was cancelled due to offside. Manchester United led 1-0, and the score remained until the end of the first half.

As the game is about to enter the second half, Cunha and Fernandez try to threaten Areola's goal again. Due to poor finishing ability, these opportunities did not turn into goals and ended with a slight lead in the first half.

The second half, both teams appeared in an offensive posture and both hoped to score goals. In the 49th minute, Bruno Fernandez almost doubled Manchester United's lead, but his powerful shot was blocked by Areola with a wonderful save.

Manchester United's second goal was finally achieved in the 52nd minute, when West Ham's defense lost control of the ball. Bruno Fernandez made the opportunity perfectly, scoring his second goal in the game.

West Ham did not give up easily, but immediately strengthened their offensive strength. Several substitutions were made, including sending Paqueta and Potts to increase creativity in the frontcourt.

West Ham's hard work bears fruit in the 63rd minute through Jarrod Bowen's personal action. After receiving Suchek's pass, Bowen successfully passed an opponent's player and fired a powerful shot, accurately hitting Beindir's goal.

After the equalization, the pace of the game slowed down and Manchester United made large-scale substitutions. Casemiro, Maguire and Mount were sent to the field to stabilize the midfield and defense.

West Ham continued to find an opportunity to equalize the score through the offenses of Potts and Toddybo. However, Maguire performed very well with several key interceptions, preventing his opponent from attacking.

Some recent opportunities are still coming from West Ham's side, but they have difficulty breaking Manchester United's goal due to lack of creativity in the end of the game. Even five minutes of stoppage time did not change the final result, and United won their first preseason with a deserved 2-1.
