October 9th, the Brazilian Football Association announced that it has received approval from FIFA and will release unreviewed VAR audio for future domestic games in Brazil.

Previously, the Brazilian Football Association stipulated that only when the referee is reminded by the VAR referee and goes to the sidelines to watch the video replay for review, the Brazilian Football Association will release VAR-related audio after the game. If the referee does not conduct a review, the relevant VAR audio will not be released.

However, there were some controversial penalties in Sao Paulo's 2-3 home derby loss to Palmeiras on Monday. Sao Paulo believed that the referee missed a penalty kick and asked the Brazilian Football Federation to provide relevant audio evidence. However, the referee did not review it at that time, so the Brazilian Football Association was unable to provide VAR audio according to the rules. In order to resolve the matter, the Brazilian Football Association sought further instructions from FIFA and received approval from FIFA.

The Brazilian Football Association will also release "VAR audio related to key penalties without review" in the future. These contents will be released within 24 hours after the end of the game and follow FIFA's technical operating rules.

Samir Saud, president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, said: "Since our new management took over, we have been working hard to solve the structural problems of Brazilian football and deal with matters that have been in need of reform for decades. We have announced a new schedule for men's football, and will soon confirm the schedule for women's football. Next month we will also publish Financial Fair Play rules. Referees are also one of our priorities, and in order to increase transparency, we have now expanded the scope of audio disclosure. In the coming weeks we will also announce other improvements, which will be announced since Part of the action plan that has been in development since we took over the Brazilian Football Confederation. "

Rodrigo Sintra, President of the Brazilian Referees Committee, said: "We always consult FIFA when it comes to issues outside the scope, including rules, resolutions, protocols, or FIFA instructions. In this consultation, we believe that even if the referee does not come to the sidelines for review, the relevant VAR audio should be released, which can enhance the fairness of our game. We have approval from FIFA in order to increase transparency. "
