According to B/R reporter Eric Pincus, Cavaliers defender Jerome, who will become a full free agent this summer, is expected to join the Kings.

Eric Pincus said: "The Kings have a non-luxury tax middle class special case and need a guard who can play as a backup rotation." This season Jerome averaged 12.5 points per game for the Cavaliers, shooting 51.6% from the field, shooting 43.9% from three-pointers and shooting 87.2% from free throws. He has played for the Suns, Thunder, Warriors and Cavaliers, and averaged 8.7 points per game in his career.

Last summer, Evan Mobley signed a five-year, $224 million contract extension with the Cavaliers. The 2024-25 season best defensive player award winner triggered the contract terms, increasing his rookie's first-year salary from 25% of the salary cap to 30%. This leads to the Cavaliers' salary in the 2025-26 season expected to reach US$219 million, surpassing the second rich line.

Cavaliers are the number one seed in the Eastern Conference this season, but they were eliminated by the Pacers in the division semifinals. According to previous reports from ESPN, the Cavaliers hope that Jerome will accept a salary cut and stay in the team.
