July 8th news Earlier, the Pacers officially announced that its team star Tyres Halliburton had a torn right Achilles tendon and will miss the 2025-26 season.

Pacers president Kevin Prichard told the public: "The surgery went smoothly. The wound was slightly higher and the blood circulation was better, which was conducive to recovery. But he would not come back next year. We will not take any risks. So, don't have hope for his comeback this season. But I have no doubt that he will return with a stronger attitude."

Halliburton was injured in Game 7 of the NBA Finals last month. In the end, the Thunder won the game and won the first championship trophy in team history. After Halliburton left the field, the Pacers were beaten 56-43 by the Thunder in the second half, and finally lost 91-103. In Game 7 of the Finals, Halliburton contributed 9 points and scored three three-pointers before the appearance. He averaged 14 points, 5.9 assists and 4.6 rebounds in the Finals series.

In fact, Halliburton injured his calf as early as Game 5 of the finals. Although he was listed as "deciding whether to play before the game" before Game 6, he still played with injuries and unfortunately suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in Game 7. Halliburton posted on social media last month that he did not regret playing with injuries: "I will do it again, countless times, just for the city and my brothers."

Prichard also told the media that Halliburton's mentality "fullly illustrates what kind of person he is."

"If you ask me, would you hope he will come back? I won't. I really won't," Prichard said. "If I had known he would have been injured, I would rather sacrifice that game. Because I cared about him so much, I hope he has an amazing career."

Halliburton, 25, played a total of 73 games in the 2024-25 regular season (all starters), averaged 18.6 points, 9.2 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game, and was selected for the third team of the Year. He has played 333 games (294 starts) so far in his career, playing for the Kings (2020-22) and the Pacers, with averaging 17.5 points, 8.8 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game.
