Wade claims Durant will never join the Heat, he will not follow in James footsteps

According to Nico Martinez, a contributor to US sports media F/W. The Miami Heat showed a strong interest in Durant before he was recently traded to the Rockets. This is at least the second time in Durant's career, but Wade said it was never destined. In a conversation on the Time Out podcast, the Miami legend makes an interesting point about why Durant will never come to Miami, despite all the rumors.

"LeBron went to Miami, he wouldn't go to Miami. I said this 10 years ago when the Heat tried to get him, and UD talked about that on one of his shows. He didn't follow LeBron. I know he wouldn't come to Miami. Why are we recruiting someone who doesn't follow LeBron? Why is he doing that? LeBron left, what does KD come here for? 10 years ago I didn't like it, and I didn't like it recently when I heard it recently. I'm glad that KD is in Houston and he's not in Miami because that's not...I don't want to be one of those old guys who can't come back to celebrate...Hot, put this sh** together."

James joined the Heat in 2010 after playing for many years with the Cavaliers. Thanks to Riley's efforts, James was able to join forces with Wade and Bosh to form a super team that dominates the East. Together, they won two championships on four consecutive Finals trips before LeBron finally left.

James has been away from Miami for more than 10 years, but his presence is still lingering there, and Wade says that is what prevents Durant from joining. Durant has been one of James' strongest competitors throughout his career, but he is always behind 4 titles. Despite his achievements and success, Durant has been suppressed and surpassed by James, and even the back-to-back championship in the Warriors could not bring him over to James. Today, Durant respects James very much, but it is no secret that he wants to distinguish himself from basketball legends.

When the Heat became Durant suitor this summer, fans cheered him for embracing their championship culture. However, Durant dreams of something different. At the Heat, he and James will be constantly compared, and he will have to endure his tenure with the Heat, which is secondary to what his biggest competitor can achieve. Rather than choosing to chase him and follow in his footsteps, Durant went another way, trying to be a hero for different teams. He is now a member of the Rockets and has no regrets about everything going forward this summer.

Sadly for the Heat, it means they have to lose another NBA superstar, but Riley seems to have no problem with taking a slow and methodical approach. After Butler's legend, they need a completely accepted star, not someone trapped in the past. Durant, 36, still has time to shape his achievements as he wishes, and he will do things his own way. As a member of the Rockets, he now has the opportunity to start over again and he intends to make the most of it when he still has the chance.
