A clever choice, Rockets traded the No. 10 draw and it is useless for themselves, and the two intentions are hard to describe

At the beginning of this year's offseason, people were wondering what kind of player the Rockets would choose with the No. 10 pick in their hands. However, in the end, the team got Durant's deal and returned the 10-pin first round to the original owner and returned it to the Suns. A large number of people feel sorry for this, saying that the team could have signed with the 10th pick and choose a future star with good potential.

However, with the beginning of the summer league and the rookies appearing one after another, it can only be said that the Rockets did not use this draft pick by themselves, because the two players they had intended to choose before were not satisfactory in the summer league.

The first is Carter Bryant, who had tried the team. Before the draft, Kabu's draft pick suddenly rose a lot, which has a lot to do with the Rockets' trial. After the team tried out Kabu, news broke out in the league that this potential forward may become a true top ten pick.

However, Kabu was finally selected by the Spurs at the 14th pick. Judging from his several games in the Summer League, the advantages in the scout report are indeed obvious. First of all, Kabu will not occupy a large number of players on the team. He mainly uses empty cuts and outside catch shots as the ending methods on the offensive end. Secondly, Kabu uses his outstanding physical fitness and is a very reliable defensive end player. Especially when assisting defense, we can always contribute famous scenes like nail-board big hats.

However, through several games, people also saw obvious shortcomings in Kabu. One of them is that his three-point shooting was not very stable. In college, he averaged 6.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1 assist per game, with a shooting percentage of 46%, and a three-point shooting percentage of 37.1%. However, he averaged only 19.3 minutes of playing time, and there were too few game samples, which made people's judgment errors.

The first summer league game, Kabu played for 21 minutes, made 3 of 8 shots, scored only 7 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist, and only 1 of 6 three-pointers. In the game against the Lakers, Kabu scored 9 points, 3 rebounds and 2 blocks in 25 minutes of the game. 2 of 8 shots and made 4 turnovers. Today, Kabu made 1 of 6 shots in the 18-minute game, scoring 5 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 blocks, and his scoring efficiency was still not high.

At the same time, in terms of independent offense, Kabu's ball-holding ability is still lower than the league average. It is not practical to imagine that he becomes a ball-holder on the offensive end at this stage. So this 2.03-meter forward still has a long way to go to become a real rotation player.

In addition to Kabu, the Rockets also focused on a backcourt player, that is, Yaku, the player selected by the Heat 20th pick. This rookie, who once ranked in the top ten in the simulation list, actually dropped by more than ten places. In the NCAA field, Yaku is a very all-round double-purpose guard, averaging 15 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game, shooting 44% from the field and 31.8% from three-point shooting percentage.

However, in the summer league with higher talent and player strength, Yaku exposed his shortcomings very clearly. In the first game, he made 1 of 7 shots and scored only 3 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist, including 0 of 3 points, 4 shots. In the game against the Warriors, Yaku played for 22 minutes, scored 5 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal, and made 0 of 5 shots, scoring 5 points with only free throws.

Faced with faster and more defensive opponents, Yaku seemed very uncomfortable since the beginning of the first game. This city is not a speed-type backcourt, so it is difficult to get rid of the opponent when breaking through. At the same time, because the opponent gave stronger confrontation, Yaku was also greatly affected in shooting. It seems that it is not a wise move for the Heat to choose Yaku in the 20th pick.

To sum up, if the team really chooses to retain these two intentional targets that were once the Rockets' 10th pick, it probably won't be enough training space and will occupy a part of the salary space. Rather than this, it would be very cost-effective to pack it up for a superstar who still has the strength to do it. What do you think of the operation of the Rockets' No. 10 draw this year?
